The series is planned to take place before The Fellowship of the Ring. Tolkien crafted a detailed history for the mythical world of Middle-earth. Unlike darker places within Middle-earth, such as Mordor, Rivendell is often depicted as a safe refuge. Die-hard Tolkien fans will undoubtedly remember the Witch-king of Angmar, but for more casual enthusiasts, we've decided to share a little more trivia about the character's earlier connection to Rivendell.
